Diploma in Aviation
Commencing in 2012 there is a new NZQA approved Diploma in Aviation qualification being offered to students. The aeroplane diploma has three strand on offer at Nelson Aviation College; General Aviation, Flight Instruction and Airline Preparation. In order for domestic students to receive Student Loan funding, students must enrol and complete one or more of the three strands. These diplomas are also available for International Students.
This course is a Level 5, 243 credit qualification which is 78 weeks (helicopter) and 80 weeks (aeroplane) in duration. The course content includes a PPL, CPL and either a single or multi engine (aeroplane only) instrument rating as well as additional electives in Dangerous Goods and Maintenance Control. This course would ideally suit those students who wish to pursue a career in the Part 135 area, for example Scenic and Charter Flying.
This course is a Level 6, 232 (H) or 253 (A) credit qualification which is 76 weeks (helicopter) and 82 weeks (aeroplane) in duration. This course will include a PPL, CPL and either a single or multi engine (aeroplane only) instrument rating as well as a C Category Flight Instructor Rating. This course would ideally suit those students that wish to pursue a career as a Flight Instructor or as a pathway to build hours towards an Airline Career.
This course is a Level 6, 289 credit qualification which is 88 weeks in duration. This course will include a PPL, CPL, multi engine instrument rating as well as the ATPL theory and
Airline Integration Course offered in conjunction with the
Air New Zealand Aviation Institute School of Flight. This course would ideally suit those students that wish to pursue a career as an Airline Pilot.
